Description
 
The Maintenance Supervisor directs all maintenance-related activities during the assigned shift. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation, utilization, and maintenance of all hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, foundry casting machinery, building, and grounds, and is accountable for the safety, productivity and quality of the work of assigned personnel. The Maintenance Supervisor is a working position that will work alongside assigned personnel in completing required maintenance tasks in addition to providing supervision.
 
Essential Job Functions (performed either with or without accommodation)
 
• Supervise electricians, mechanics, and clean-up personnel ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Oversee and perform maintenance work as required with department teammates.
• Work closely with maintenance planners, purchasing, other supervisors, and vendors to properly coordinate the repair and/or routine maintenance of foundry equipment.
• Review and maintain all check sheets and PMs, completing necessary action items in a timely manner.
• Monitor uptime and efficiencies of all production equipment in the plant, working with other maintenance and production supervisors/managers to drive improvements and efficiencies.
• Train and qualify employees to perform all necessary functions.
• Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
• Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
• Manage contracted maintenance resources.
• Update preventive maintenance (PM) procedures based on crew feedback, OEM documentation, and historical trends.
• Manage Continuous Improvement Projects.
• Ensure Compliance of facilities to State and Federal Environmental regulations.
• Manage and control waste per RCRA and DOT regulations as required.
• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
 
Expected Areas of Competence (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
 
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences (operators, management, engineering, etc.).
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to assess performance of yourself, others, or vendors to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and basic electrical functions.
• Ability to think critically to analyze information and data to suggest alternative solutions to problems.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and mechanical processes to keep them running efficiently.
• Knowledge of basic computer software (i.e. - Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
 
Educational and Experience Requirements
 
• High School diploma or equivalent required (associates or bachelors degree in technical field preferred).
• Five years of experience in industrial maintenance or industrial electrical maintenance required (ten years preferred).
• Three years supervisory experience required (in a medium to the heavy industrial environment preferred).
• Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) is beneficial, but not required.
